Texas Hill Country Catholic Communities Rally Together to Support Flood Victims

Catholic communities in the Texas Hill Country are supporting flood victims by providing shelter, food, and other resources.

St. Mary's Parish in Fredericksburg and other local churches are working together to assist those affected by the recent flooding, offering assistance to families who have lost their homes and belongings.

The community has come together to show compassion and support for those in need during this difficult time, demonstrating the power of faith and generosity in times of crisis.

At 45, Patty Montagno found herself single not by preference, but by a culture that seemed to leave faith-filled Catholics behind in the modern dating scene. Tired of suggestions to compromise or just “settle,” she refused to give up on her values while seeking genuine love. As dating apps and casual relationships felt out of step with her beliefs, Patty noticed that few resources actually helped Catholics connect meaningfully. She decided to change that. Patty launched Cana Connections, a grassroots network uniting like-minded singles through in-person events and personalized matchmaking. While plenty of Catholic women attended, the search for equally committed, single Catholic men proved more daunting. Still, marriages began to bloom from her efforts. Though Patty remains single herself, her mission is thriving. She urges the Church and singles alike to get real about love—because even the faithful need help finding the right introduction.

The University of San Diego, a Catholic institution, recently permitted an LGBTQ+ drag Mass on campus, sparking controversy among Catholic leaders.
