St. Thomas More Catholic Parish's 'More Coffee' Serves as a Hub for Community and Faith

Exclusive

In the heart of Centennial, Colorado, a unique café named More Coffee is redefining the traditional coffee shop experience. Owned and operated by St. Thomas More Catholic Parish, this establishment aims to be more than just a place for a caffeine fix; it's envisioned as an outpost of evangelization within the community.

Upon entering More Coffee, patrons are welcomed by the rich aroma of freshly ground beans, complemented by vintage London skyline images adorning the walls. Inspirational quotes from Catholic saints grace the chalkboard, and a crucifix hangs prominently by the pickup counter, subtly reflecting the café's spiritual foundation.

The initiative stems from Father Randy Dollins, the pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish, who envisioned a space where both Catholics and non-Catholics within the parish boundaries could gather comfortably. Recognizing that some individuals might hesitate to step into a church, Father Dollins sought to create an environment where conversations about faith could occur naturally.

Tyler Duffy, the parish's director of evangelization, elaborated on this vision, emphasizing the importance of meeting people where they are. He noted that inviting someone for coffee is often more approachable than inviting them to Mass, making the café an ideal setting for organic discussions about faith.

The location of More Coffee is strategic. Situated in the Denver Tech Center (DTC), a bustling business hub in the southeastern Denver metropolitan area, the café aims to attract a diverse clientele, from business professionals to remote workers seeking a welcoming space.

Beyond serving quality coffee, the parish has integrated additional community resources into the space. A chapel within the building offers a serene spot for reflection, while an adjacent conference room is available for community use at no cost. These additions underscore the parish's commitment to fostering community engagement and spiritual growth.

Duffy expressed hopes that More Coffee will evolve into a recognized hub for Catholic dialogue and community building within the archdiocese. By combining a robust Catholic atmosphere with a beloved local coffee shop, the parish aspires to create a space where individuals can encounter the beauty and joy of the faith through genuine community interactions.

As More Coffee continues to serve the Centennial community, it stands as a testament to innovative approaches in evangelization, blending the universal appeal of coffee with the timeless message of faith.
