Catholics across the U.S. unite in prayer for the protection of life from October 22-30, 2025. |
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) invites Catholics nationwide to participate in the annual Respect Life Novena from October 22 to 30, 2025.
This nine-day period of prayer focuses on the protection of human life from conception to natural death.
Each day of the novena presents a specific prayer intention, accompanied by Scripture readings and suggested acts of reparation.
Participants can access the novena through the USCCB's Respect Life website or receive daily prayers via email or text message.
Additionally, the novena will be available on the free version of the Hallow app, with a different U.S. bishop leading the faithful in prayer each day.
Among the bishops participating are Bishop Daniel Thomas of Toledo, Ohio; Archbishop Alexander Sample of Portland, Oregon; and Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia.
In Colorado, Archbishop Samuel Aquila of Denver is encouraging all Catholics to join the novena, especially in light of recent legislative changes expanding access to abortion in the state.
On October 25, the fourth day of the novena, Archbishop Aquila will lead a Eucharistic procession around Denver's Planned Parenthood facility, the largest abortion provider in Colorado.
Jennifer Torres, community engagement coordinator for Respect Life Denver, expressed anticipation for the event, stating, "This sacred time offers our community a beautiful opportunity to come together in witness and worship, united in our shared mission to be light in a darkened world."
She added, "As we walk with Christ truly present in the Eucharist, we are reminded that he calls us to be faithful, to carry hope, and to boldly proclaim the dignity of every human life."
Earlier this year, the Colorado Legislature passed a measure mandating taxpayer funding for elective abortions, repealing a previous provision that prohibited public funds for abortion.
The new law requires abortion coverage for Medicaid patients and Child Health Plan Plus program recipients using state money.
The Colorado Catholic Conference, representing the state's bishops, described the allocation of taxpayer funds to subsidize abortion as "a tragedy for Colorado."
By participating in the Respect Life Novena, Catholics across the nation can unite in prayer and action to promote the dignity of every human life.
For more information and to join the novena, visit the USCCB's Respect Life website or download the Hallow app. |
